Scottish Kennel Club Championship Show 2014 Critique

PD(2) 1. Isdemus Prince of Beauty TAF. 7 months and well grown, good size and overall proportions.  Has a pleasing head and good legs and feet.  Needs to develop in body and steady in movement. 2. Arrachogaidh Bhaideanach.  A lovely headed puppy but too square in outline.  Close coupled and not standing over enough ground.  Forelegs not straight and tends to cow hock behind at the moment  Tail could be longer but he has an excellent coat.

JD(3) 1.  Almondbank Lead on Macduff. Good size and proportions with a pleasing head.  Ears could be neater. Has a strong neck but is a bit short in upper arm and his shoulders could be better laid back.  Has a good depth and length of rib, nice arch over the loin and good rear.  Looked well going round the ring holding a correct topline.  Has a good coat.2. Dorrator Franklin. Liked his head qualities. Has a good neck, bone and feet which were well arched.  Needs to deepen in chest and although he moved quite well his hocks could be lower set and he tended to flatten his topline.  3. Dorrator Curtis.

YD(2) 1. Cusidh Drawing Down The Sun. Liked his type.  Has a good head with nice dark eye, good ears and good mouth. Neck OK but a bit upright in shoulder, which  reflects in his movement where he picks up rather than reaches out in front.  Has a good body which was well ribbed back, a well muscled rear, good feet and coat.  Holds his topline on the move and exhibits good flexion at the hock to drive him from the rear.2. Teviotdale Banner Blue. Nice size and substance, has a fair head and a good depth of chest for his age. Lacks a bit in both front and rear angulation and moves rather stiff-legged in profile.

PGD(3) 1. Rosslyn Qonnor. Good size with a nice head but ears a bit large and not folded back.  Has a decent neck, shoulders a bit upright and short in upper arm.  Holds a firm topline and has a good depth of chest.  His croup is a bit short and tail carried too high.  Moved ok coming towards and was close behind today.  2. Ruairidh Macratha of Cusidh***.Thought this one very plain in head and lacked furnishings and coat throughout . Reminiscent of his Greyhound ancestry. He has a good neck and depth of chest but is a bit flat in topline, stands over plenty ground and has good legs and feet, whip tail.  Movement was erratic today. 3. Pitlochry's Lancelot.

LD(6) 1. Killoeter Ruaig.  He has a super head, with good eyes, nicely folded ears and black nose.  A big strong dog with an excellent neck and shoulders, a good fill in front, good legs and feet.  Has a good depth of chest, is well ribbed back with a nice arch to his loin which was strong and led to a good length of croup and well angulated rear quarters. Carries a typical dense harsh coat and was the best mover in this class, positive and showing good  reach and drive. RCC 2. Gentiehun Desert Orchid. Has good head qualities, A good neck and topline, good depth of body with moderate spring of rib and a well angulated rear.  Moved well in profile and shown in good coat.  Not as true behind as the winner. 3. Killoeter Quern at Cuillinmor.

OD(4) 1. Ch Cotherstone Shot and Steel.  Lovely type who is a series of curves from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail. Has a beautiful head, and expression, lovely arched neck, good shoulders and a well filled front, a very good deep body, strong loin and well angulated rear.  Held his flowing outline on the move and showed good reach in front and drive behind. Carries a good crisp harsh coat. CC & BOB 2. Ch Kwaricott Corelli. Has much to commend him. Liked his size, good bladed bone, good depth of chest and good balanced angulation front and rear. His head did not appeal being rather broad in back skull and with small eyes and he is a bit long in loin.  He moves with a good length of stride but tended to flatten in topline. 3. Ch Regalflight Tarloch.

PB(2) 1. Chuilinn Ballad. I thought this was a beautiful feminine puppy with loads of potential. She has a lovely outline and is a balanced and sound mover showing great freedom and drive with neat elbows in front and good width between her hocks going away, which is a much needed attribute in this breed.  Loved her head, with dark eyes and good ears. She has good bone, straight forelegs and good feet. Although she is very young and needs to mature in body, there were no other bitches shown today other than the ticket winner who could move with the freedom and soundness of this youngster hence she was my RCC winner. 2. Celticmoon Shadow Magic. A taller and rangier puppy with a nice length of head and small well folded ears, a good depth of chest and length of ribbing. At a different stage of development and not as coordinated on the move as 1.

JB(1) 1. Dorrator Garvey. Ok in head with a good neck, topline and strong loin.  Has a good length of croup and good rear angulation but her feet were rather round and short toed.  Carries an excellent coat and moved steadily.

YB(2) Two quite different types.1. Cusidh Dreaming Spirit. This one had the more substance.  Has a nice head set on a strong neck, a straight front, good strong back and good rear angles.  Used herself well on the move with reach in front and good flexion of the hocks going round.  In good coat and condition. 2. Cotherstone Brogue. A finer made bitch with a good eye,and ears. Good front with nice deep body for her age.  A bit high in hock and stiff in movement and not covering the ground as well as winner.

PGB(5.3) 1. Cotherstone Islay Mist of Kaleginy. A very appealing bitch with a  feminine head with dark eyes and neat ears.  Has a good fill in front, a nicely arched neck, a good depth and spring of rib, lovely arch over the loin and drooping quarters, which were well angulated but would have liked her hocks lower set.  She moved quite well but very close behind.2. Brylach Over The Broomstick with Cusidh. A rather tall immature looking bitch. Did not care for her head and she was rather upright in front and flat in topline. Movement was loose, uncollected and close both front and rear.  She needs to fill out in body and come together when moving.

LB(6) 1. Gentiehun Adelaide of Kaleginy. A lovely bitch with a good head and expression, neat ears, a good front with correct width at the elbow, nice legs and feet.  Has a good depth of chest and a good neck and topline, which she held on the move. Has well balanced angulation front and rear and is a nice free mover in profile.  Just a bit close behind as were so many in this breed.  Good coat and condition. 2. Killoeter Ralia. Slightly different type with a nice head of good length and with strong underjaw. Has a nice arch to her neck, a good topline, very deep body, is well ribbed back and has good legs and feet.  In good muscular condition and a nice easy mover. 3. Kessoch Marsco of Greystiel.

OB(1) 1. Ch Cotherstone Duchenne. On her own but what a good bitch this is.  Liked her head and eye although ears could be a tad smaller.  Has a lovely reach of neck and presents a super outline.  Has good shoulders and a true front, good depth of chest and a well balanced rear with good slope to her croup and a well angulated rear.  Moved well out and back.  In the challenge she lost out to the dog on front movement where he had a better low forward reach today.

VB(1) 1. Canishurn Zena.  A well constructed bitch of almost 9 years. Has a pleasing head with nice eye but her ears could be smaller.  Has deep ribs carried well back and was in good coat.  She still can move soundly out and back, although carrying a bit of extra weight over the loin.
